River Forest Country Club is a classic 1920s parkland golf course designed by Frank P. McDonald in 1926 and modified in 1935 following a visit from renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast. Located in Elmhurst, Illinois, the course features immaculately maintained, tree-lined fairways with numerous water hazards throughout.

The layout is characterized by small, contoured green complexes that slope predominantly from back to front, reflecting era-appropriate construction methods predating modern drainage systems. The course is recognized for exceptional putting surfaces, with typical in-season green speeds averaging 11.5 to 12 on the Stimpmeter. Recent improvements include new bunker installations using the Better Billy Bunker liner system and Pro Angle sand.

The course presents a moderate to challenging difficulty suitable for various skill levels. Comprehensive practice facilities enhance the golfing experience, including a long range, two short game areas, a dedicated practice bunker, and a putting green. River Forest Country Club is noted among Chicagoland courses for maintaining some of the region's finest playing conditions and amenities.
