Ito Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course located in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Designed by Shoji Yamamoto and opened in October 1978, the course spans 940,000 square meters and is set on hilly terrain with views of the Fuji Mountains and the Sagami Bay. The layout measures 6,747 yards from the back tees, with a JGA course rating of 72.0 from the back tees and 70.8 from the regular tees. The course is characterized by elevation changes managed through intervals rather than steep ups and downs on individual holes, though shots from slopes add complexity. The front nine is described as varied and tricky, requiring precise shot-making, while the back nine is noted for its grandeur and longer distances.
The course features two sets of tees. The back tees (A) extend the front nine to 3,288 yards and the back nine to 3,459 yards. The regular tees (B) measure 3,131 yards for the front nine and 3,289 yards for the back nine. The layout includes a mix of par-3, par-4, and par-5 holes, with handicap indices assigned to each hole to reflect their relative difficulty. A notable feature is the 17th hole, a par-4 that serves as the longest middle hole on the course, measuring 435 yards from the back tees. This hole demands both power and technique, with players advised to avoid hitting the ball right. The 4th hole, a par-5 measuring 514 yards from the back tees, is another key challenge, requiring careful direction off the tee to avoid hazards on the second shot. The 13th hole, a par-3 measuring 150 yards from the back tees, is considered easier in terms of distance but features a deep bunker in front of the green that requires precise approach shots.
The facility includes a restaurant, locker rooms, and a practice area, catering to both members and visiting golfers. The course allows for the use of motorized carts, with options for self-service or caddie-assisted play.
