Wellington Gymkhana Club

Wellington Gymkhana Club is located in the Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, approximately 3 km from Coonoor at an altitude of 6,000 feet. The 18-hole golf course spans 6,000 yards and is considered one of India's best-maintained hill courses, playable virtually year-round. The course features lush fairways interspersed with gurgling brooks and dense forests, presenting significant challenges to golfers of all levels. The terrain includes flat sections alternating with steep climbs and descents, offering a notable physical test. The greens are well-maintained with distinctive bunkers featuring clayey soil rather than sand. The picturesque setting combines natural beauty with challenging design elements. Established in 1873 as a garrison club, it originally featured a nine-hole course before expansion. The club holds IGU membership and remains a premier recreational facility with additional amenities including tennis courts, dining facilities, and accommodations.
