The Water's Edge Country Club is a private, 18-hole PGA Championship golf course designed by R.F. Loving, Jr., established in 1988. Located along 13.5 miles of Smith Mountain Lake shoreline in Penhook, Virginia, the course offers unparalleled mountain views with golf course visibility from the lake on 15 holes. The course has a par of 72, plays at 6,967 yards, with a rating of 73.8 and slope of 131. The course features Bent Grass greens and Blue Grass fairways.

Notable features include the Island Green on Hole #7, views of the Peaks of Otter on Hole #6, and the challenging Hole #18 rated as one of the more challenging holes in the region. The diverse layout is challenging enough to make it worth playing again and again without being too frustrating. In 2007, the golf course was renovated tee to green.
