Tidewater Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina that features 7,150 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course was designed by Ken Tomlinson and opened in 1990. The course is located north of Myrtle Beach along the salt water marshes slightly inland of the Atlantic Ocean. The course is routed through a residential development which doesn't end up being a distraction due to the heavy woods that line the majority of fairways and the attractiveness of the homes themselves.
From a conditioning standpoint there are few courses that can rival Tidewater's TifEagle greens, brilliant white bunkering, and finely manicured fairways. The most spectacular holes play along the salt water marshes which provide impressive views and risk/reward opportunities. The course features a course rating of 74.9 with a slope rating of 140, indicating a challenging layout that accommodates multiple skill levels through different tee boxes.
Tidewater's signature hole is the par-3 12th, appropriately named "The Wishing Well," with saltwater marsh and strategic bunker guarding most of the green. Upon its opening in 1990, the course was recognized by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine as the Best New Course and remains the only course to have received the award by both publications. The course continues to earn national recognition, most recently being ranked among Golfweek's "Top 200 Resort Courses in the U.S." for 2025 and included in Golf Digest's list of "Best Courses in South Carolina" for 2024.
