The Royal Eastbourne Golf Club, established in 1887, features two courses in Eastbourne's downland landscape. The flagship Devonshire Course is an 18-hole parkland and downland layout over 100 years old, named after the Duke of Devonshire. It combines open fairways with narrow doglegs, challenging bunkers, and testing greens, offering outstanding views across Eastbourne and the South Downs. The course is playable year-round due to excellent drainage and is maintained to high standards.
The complementary Hartington Course is a 9-hole layout named after the Marquis of Hartington. Despite its shorter length, it features small greens that challenge skilled golfers while remaining accessible for beginners. It serves as a practice facility for Devonshire members and houses the club's Golf Academy.
Both courses require accurate shotmaking and strategic play. The club welcomes visitors and offers professional coaching through PGA-qualified staff. The Millennium Lounge, opened in 2000, provides dining and event facilities with panoramic views of the courses and surrounding countryside.
