The Foundry Golf Club is located in Powhatan County, Virginia and was built in 1990 by local developer J.K. Timmons, a retired civil engineer. The course was designed by Timmons working with his son Jeffrey and golf architect R.F. Loving, Jr. to create a layout that respected the natural topography of the land and the golf architecture of the early 20th century. The course features 18 holes with a total par of 72. From the longest tees, the course measures 6,833 yards with a course rating of 72.8 and a slope rating of 131 on Bermuda grass.

The Foundry Golf Club is situated on rolling terrain with indigenous vegetation and natural rock formations, and the meandering Fine Creek adds to the beauty of this setting. The course was designed to be walked, with a caddy program as an integral part of the vision. The layout features interesting design with alternating doglegs through the first six holes, followed by holes seven through eleven that include a par 3, par 5, par 3, par 5, and par 3. Notable holes include the short par four 4th hole, the 597-yard par five 8th hole (the longest par five on the course), and the 153-yard par three 17th hole (the shortest of the four par threes). The course is known for notoriously fast and difficult greens.
