Founded in 1900, Hermitage Country Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Virginia. The club is located in Manakin Sabot in eastern Goochland County, Virginia, a suburb of Richmond. The facility offers 36 holes of premier golf. The 18-hole Manakin course features 6,691 yards for a par of 72 and was designed by Edmund B. Ault, opening in 1977. The 18-hole Sabot course features 6,947 yards for a par of 72 and was designed by Arthur Hills, also opened in 1977.

The original course was designed by A. W. Tillinghast and remodeled in 1940 by Donald Ross, and hosted the PGA Championship in 1949, the first and only time a men's major championship was held in the state. The Sabot course has nice elevation changes and water comes in play frequently. Water appears on 8 out of the first 9 holes on the Manakin course. Current amenities include two 18-hole golf courses, a fitness center, and dining facilities.
