The 18-hole Sabot course features 6,947 yards of golf for a par of 72. Originally designed by Ed Ault in 1973, Arthur Hills renovated the Sabot in 2000. Located at 1248 Hermitage Road, Manakin Sabot, Virginia 23103, the course is situated in rolling hills surrounded by forest.
The Sabot course has nice elevation changes and water comes in play frequently. Water is present on 8 out of the first 9 holes. The Sabot is generally considered the more difficult of the two courses at Hermitage, calling for heroic feats from players in typical Hillsian style. The closing hole requires a lengthy carry over Broad Branch Lake to reach the final green. The course stresses course management and forces the player to conservatively place the ball on the green.
