Tarpon Boil was designed by Clifton, Ezell & Clifton and opened in 2010. The 9-hole course features 1,158 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 28. The first eight holes are par 3s, some straightforward and some fairly tough, all running around and through wildlife preserve areas that showcase the natural beauty of Florida's flora and fauna. Naturalized areas filled with native cord grasses are seen throughout the round and come into play on most of the holes.
Number 9, the only par 4 on Tarpon Boil, is a dog-leg left that skirts one of the scenic preservation areas. The signature hole is the ninth, a par 4 that flows nicely along the water's edge. From the shortest tee position, players can complete a 923-yard round, while playing from the back tees presents a 1,578-yard challenge. The course is part of The Villages Executive Golf Trail system and caters to golfers seeking a shorter, more accessible executive-length layout within Florida's largest 55+ community.
