Southern Star debuted in 2011, right next door to the well-regarded Yankee Clipper course. The course was designed by Clifton, Ezell & Clifton. Located in Lady Lake, Florida within The Villages community, this 9-hole course features 1,682 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 28. Golfers have a variety of tee options to choose from, ranging from a total of 1,085 yards to 1,682 yards. The course has 4 water holes and 1 par 4, with a difficulty rating of Level 3.

Two of the first three holes demand that golfers successfully carry their tee shots over water features to reach the putting surface. Once accomplished, golfers may welcome the chance to pull out the driver on number 4, where the fairway is wide open. The strategic marshland carries were particularly appreciated for adding an element of difficulty to the course. Southern Star is a fair and challenging golf course for players of all levels.
