Taiwan Golf & Country Club Course is Taiwan's first golf course, established in 1919 and boasting over a century of history. Located in Tamsui, a culturally rich area featuring historic landmarks such as the Red-haired Castle and Oxford Academy, the course integrates seamlessly with the local heritage landscape.
The course features an 18-hole championship layout with par-72 design. The routing showcases varied terrain with strategic elevation changes, water hazards, and numerous bunkers that define each hole's challenge. Notable characteristics include several signature holes that leverage Tamsui's scenic setting—the 6th hole notably frames views of the Tamsui River mouth and Guanyin Mountain.
The course presents considerable difficulty, with holes designed to demand careful club selection and strategic positioning. Par-3 holes such as the 10th—described as one of the world's most challenging short holes—require precision, while par-5 holes like the 6th and 13th offer opportunities for skilled play. The layout incorporates dramatic elevation changes, particularly on holes 14 and 16.
Recognized as one of Taiwan's few courses meeting world-class standards, the Taiwan Golf & Country Club maintains excellent facilities and scenic aesthetics, making it a historically and culturally significant venue in Taiwan's golf heritage.
