Located in Susono, Shizuoka, Susono Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 facility designed by Koji Kimura and later modified by Toshio Kato. The course spans 1.27 million square meters and offers a total length of 7,179 yards from the championship tees, with a course rating of 74.6. Opened in October 1985, the layout is characterized by strategic placement of greens, bunkers, and water hazards that demand precision from golfers of all skill levels. The terrain is defined by its elevation changes and panoramic views, with every hole offering a sightline of Mount Fuji. The course features a mix of uphill and downhill shots, including the challenging 10th hole, a par-5 dogleg right that requires a tee shot over a valley and OB area. The 14th hole presents a downhill par-4 with a large water hazard guarding the front of the green, while the 12th is a demanding par-3 that requires a tee shot over a valley to a narrow, elongated green. Susono Country Club has established itself as a premier venue for professional golf, hosting the PGA Senior Tour’s Fancl Classic. The course is also scheduled to host the 2022 Qualifying Tournament 1st, further cementing its reputation as a high-level test of golf. The facility utilizes Bentgrass greens and is equipped with five-person electromagnetic induction carts, providing a modern playing experience for its members and visitors.
