Sunningdale Golf Club, located in Berkshire, features two championship courses: the Old Course and the New Course, both designed by renowned architects. The Old Course, designed by Willie Park Junior, is considered one of Europe's great layouts, offering a classic heathland experience with eighteen demanding holes that present strategic puzzles rather than mere length. The New Course, designed by Harry Colt, provides an equally challenging alternative on the same scenic heathland terrain.
Both courses are set within the distinctive Surrey-Sussex landscape, characterized by rolling heathland, mature woodland, and natural sandy subsoil. The terrain creates undulating fairways and challenging green complexes that reward precision over power. The courses are noted for their excellent conditioning and presentation year-round.
Sunningdale has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including the Sunningdale Foursomes, the Critchley Salver, and the Gerald Micklem Cup. The club welcomes visitors Monday to Thursday during designated seasons (May-October). The Old Course is particularly revered as an ultimate golfing adventure, while the New Course offers comparable quality and challenge. Both courses attract golfers from around the world seeking authentic championship-level play on historic heathland.
