Orkney Islands

Established in 1890, Stromness Golf Club is a seaside parkland course located at the southern entrance to Stromness harbour in Orkney. The 18-hole course stretches just over 4,800 yards and features a tight, tricky layout that presents a challenging test despite its modest length. The setting offers spectacular views across the town, towards the islands of Hoy and Graemsay, and across to Scapa Flow, the natural harbour historically used by the British Navy during both World Wars. The undulating terrain and strategic design make the course notably difficult to play, even in favorable conditions. The club maintains a practice putting and chipping area at the clubhouse and welcomes visitors year-round. Its combination of seaside character, dramatic island views, and demanding layout makes it a distinctive golfing destination in the Scottish islands.
