Star Hill Golf Club is situated in the coastal community of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, in the heart of eastern Carolina's Crystal Coast. The course opened in 1967 with 27 fairways and greens, offering a 27-hole regulation length course with three nine-hole, par-36 courses: The Sands Nine, The Pines Nine and The Lakes Nine. All three nines were designed by Russell T. Burney, with the Pines opening in 1968, the Sands in 1990, and the Lakes in 1966. Championship yardage measures more than 6,500 yards, with each nine offering blue, white, gold and red tees.

The course is well-maintained and challenging, always in excellent condition. The course features bent grass greens, which are known for their precision and quality. The course maintains carts on the course regardless of rainfall. The course hosts the annual Frostbite Open tournament. Facilities include the Champions Club and the Grill Room for meals and social gatherings, with the Champions Club available to the public for parties, wedding receptions and other private functions.
