St Clements Golf Club is a nine-hole, par-31 heathland course located in Ipswich, Suffolk, on the grounds of the former Ipswich Borough Mental Health Hospital. Founded in 1969, the course is situated in the Foxhall community and features excellent year-round playability thanks to its superior drainage and drainage-drilled greens, with conditions comparable to local championship courses.
The layout presents challenges for golfers of all abilities. The signature hole, nicknamed the "Mickey Mouse," is a short par-4 of approximately 250 yards featuring a steeply sloping green guarded by a deep front bunker—making par a notable achievement despite the hole's modest length. The course is maintained by two dedicated greenkeepers and volunteers, and currently boasts nearly 300 members.
The nine-hole format makes St Clements particularly appealing to those seeking a shorter round due to time constraints or physical limitations. Described by the Ipswich Star as a "hidden gem," the course demonstrates resilience in a competitive development landscape while maintaining its quality and welcoming atmosphere for players at all skill levels.
