Ipswich Golf Club comprises two courses located on the eastern outskirts of Ipswich, Suffolk. The prestigious 18-hole Purdis Heath course, established at its current location in 1926, is consistently ranked in Golf World's top 100 English courses. The 9-hole Bixley course was added 40 years later. Both courses are maintained to championship standard across beautiful heathland terrain.
The Purdis Heath course features challenging heathland design with recently completed bunker remodelling. The club has hosted significant national competitions including the Logan Trophy (2011) and English Women's Amateur Strokeplay Championship (2019), and serves as an England Club Championship venue.
Founded in 1895, the club relocated from original common land at nearby Rushmere Heath. Recent improvements include a 2019 clubhouse refurbishment featuring updated bars and dining areas. Both courses offer an exceptional challenge for golfers of varying abilities, with the heathland setting providing an attractive and testing playing experience. The club welcomes both members and visitors, offering society packages and professional instruction.
