Squaw Creek is one of the oldest championship caliber golf courses in the Midwest, designed by renowned Canadian architect Stanley Thompson, who created over 150 courses throughout his career. The course features 18 holes with five sets of tees ranging from 4,990 to 7,372 yards, accommodating golfers of all skill levels.

The layout is characterized by mature, tree-lined fairways that create a visually striking setting. The course presents a challenging test with strategic bunkering, water hazards including creeks and lakes, and undulating greens that demand precision. Notable features include several demanding par 5s on the back nine and well-designed par 3s that require accuracy rather than length.

The signature hole is number 12, a short par 4 dogleg left that plays considerably more difficult than its yardage suggests. The hole requires a precisely worked tee shot over a creek that crosses the fairway and continues along the left side, followed by an approach to an extremely sloped green where two putts constitute an excellent score. Other standout holes include the long uphill par 4 eighth hole and the challenging par 5 eleventh.
