The 18-hole Mahoning Country Club in Girard, OH opened in 1922 and is a public golf course. Designed by William Guthrie, the course measures 6,006 yards from the longest tees for a par of 70, with a course rating of 70.0 and a slope rating of 113. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels.
Founded in the early 1920s, the club remained private until 1972 and hosted the 1942 and 1943 Mahoning Valley Open which included notable players such as Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen, and Bing Crosby. Nine of the original holes remain in play today, with most changes occurring in the 1950s after John Ezzo purchased the property in 1943 and the latest modifications completed in 1998 when two new holes were opened.
The front nine features wide-open fairways for developing your long game, while the back nine introduces rolling, narrow fairways and large, sloped greens to test precision and strategy. Water is present on approximately half of the holes, with the back nine requiring more accuracy in both distance and direction for successful play.
