Royal Wimbledon Golf Club is the third oldest golf club in England, founded in 1865 on Wimbledon Common. Originally designed by Tom Dunn and shared with London Scottish Golf Club, the course was significantly redesigned in 1924 by Harry Colt, a club member. Located in southwest London, the course is set on Wimbledon Common, characterized by natural landscape features including gorse and heather.
The layout presents a challenging test with tight fairways and demanding conditions. Four holes around the Windmill were modified in 1901 to accommodate changing course needs. Today, the course continues to evolve while maintaining its historic character and natural setting. Notable for its architectural heritage, Royal Wimbledon has hosted reciprocal arrangements with other Royal Clubs worldwide, attracting visiting golfers who appreciate both the course's design and its significant place in golf history. The club remains a distinguished venue distinguished by its long-standing traditions and continued commitment to preserving its golfing legacy.
