Ridgewood Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal course in Parma, Ohio, measuring just over 6,100 yards with a par of 70. Designed by Sandy Alves, the original foreman for Donald Ross, the course was built in 1924 and officially opened July 4, 1925. Located in the heart of Parma, it is characterized by generous fairway landing zones and good-sized greens, though some are elevated and tilted. Water hazards in the form of creeks come into play on six holes, with strategic bunker placement throughout. The back nine is notably tighter than the front nine. Notable features include par 3s ranging from 182 to 220 yards and the signature 615-yard par 5 hole 13, a sharp dogleg right with a downhill approach. The course has hosted numerous local, district, and state championships, plus the 1927 USGA Public Links national championship. Historically, golfing legends including Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Babe Zaharias, and Arnold Palmer have played the course. Most greens retain their original 1925 design with back-to-front slopes.
