Founded in 1892, The Preakness Valley Golf Course is one of the first 100 golf clubs to be established in the United States. The course contains a public 36 hole golf course, split into 2 18-hole layouts, and was made public in 1931. The golf course was designed by golf professional Martin H. O'Loughlin of Plainfield, NJ. Preakness Valley Park and Golf Course is located in Wayne Township and Totowa Borough, New Jersey, United States, along Totowa Road (County Road 644) and Riverview Drive (County Road 640).
The East Course is a par 70 that plays 5,850 yards, while the West Course is par 70 and 6,360 yards. The East Course has three sets of tees and just two par 5s, the third and the sixth, with the sharp dogleg right third wrapping around the second and first holes to a green protected by a large bunker. The East course is more hilly so a cart is recommended, while the west course is mostly flat so it is good for those that enjoy walking the course.
The facility includes a clubhouse, caddy house, practice facilities, and on-site maintenance facilities. Preakness Valley is home of the Passaic County Amateur Championship. Dey Mansion, a historical site famous for being George Washington's headquarters during the American Revolutionary War, is also located within the park.
