Preakness Hills Country Club, located in Wayne, New Jersey, is an 18-hole championship golf course with a par of 72 and 6,400 yards. Designed by William Henry "Willie" Tucker and opened in April 1929, the course represents a significant piece of American golf history. Tucker, who immigrated to the United States in 1895 and worked with notable designers including A.W. Tillinghast, created a layout that has remained largely faithful to his original vision.
The course has undergone several notable renovations to preserve and enhance its design. In the early 1950s, the nines were reversed and tees extended. During the 1970s and 1980s, architects Geoffrey Cornish and Brian Silva conducted extensive refurbishing of greens, bunkers, and landscaping. A comprehensive restoration was completed in 2005-2006 under architect Ron Forse to recapture the course's original design and character.
Set within a historic clubhouse originally constructed in the 1920s, Preakness Hills combines classic golf architecture with ongoing improvements to maintain its standing among the region's premier facilities.
