Northenden Golf Club is a traditional member-owned course situated on the banks of the River Mersey, five miles south of Manchester city centre. The 18-hole parkland layout features a variety of trees, bunkers, and water hazards, presenting a good test for golfers of all standards.

The course has a rich history dating back to 1913. Harry Vardon redesigned the original layout, with the course officially reopened in 1922. Following compulsory land acquisition for the M63 motorway in 1969, the course underwent a complete redesign by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, officially opening in its current form in 1973.

The club has invested significantly in course maintenance, notably rebuilding all 18 greens to USPGA standard in 2006 with restructured drainage systems, enabling year-round playability. The picturesque setting includes a modern, air-conditioned clubhouse completed in 2016, featuring a spike bar and function facilities. Three resident professionals offer coaching including instruction in a state-of-the-art Swing Studio. The course's proximity to the River Mersey has historically presented challenges, including notable floods in 1964 and 2025.
