Lybster Golf Club is a 9-hole course located in Caithness on Scotland's east coast, established at its present location in 1926. Set across 15 acres, the course offers stunning coastal views across the Moray Firth and is recognized as one of the best short courses in the Highlands.
The course presents a good challenge suitable for golfers of varying abilities and can be completed within 2 hours, though the full-day visitor pass encourages extended play. A notable feature is the "4, 5, 6 triangle," referenced as a challenging sequence on the course.
The clubhouse has historic significance, incorporating the original ticket office from the former Wick to Lybster railway, with the old locomotive turntable now serving as a practice area. This heritage adds character to the venue, making it a distinctive stop on the North Coast 500 tourist route.
Built and run entirely by volunteers as a not-for-profit club, Lybster has served its community for nearly a century. The course accommodates visiting golfers and hosts open competitions throughout the season. SafeGolf accreditation demonstrates the club's commitment to junior development and creating a secure environment for young players.
