The 18-hole Long Island National course features 6,901 yards from the longest tees for a par of 71, with a course rating of 74.2 and slope rating of 132 on bent grass. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Long Island National golf course opened in 1999. Located on the North Fork of Long Island close enough to Long Island Sound to taste the salt breeze, the course offers an inland course with a links style feel, situated near the famously stylish beach retreat of the Hamptons, and approximately 90 miles from Manhattan.
The course combines links-style holes with traditional course design elements, featuring rolling hills and plenty of fescue, along with 55 bunkers and three lakes, rewarding the shotmaker. This links style course features lots of deep sand bunkers, with a lot of water features on the back 9. The course features bentgrass fairways, natural elevation changes, and challenging bunkers, marrying tradition and innovation. The formerly public golf course became a member's club in 2013. The course does not have documented major championship history, though it is recognized locally as a notable private facility in the region.
