Lakeside Memorial was designed by Oklahoma State Golf Coach Labron Harris in 1945 and is located in the gentle rolling hills of north central Oklahoma. In 1998, celebrated architect Tripp Davis renovated Lakeside to its current layout. The par-70 course plays roughly 6,750 yards and features five tee options. The course features SR-1020 bent grass greens and zoysia/bermuda tee boxes. The golf course wanders through giant oaks in the gentle rolling hills of north central Oklahoma.

Lakeside served as the home of the legendary Oklahoma State University Golf Team for almost 50 years, with notable PGA Tour players such as Rickie Fowler, Bob Tway, David Edwards, Doug Tewell, and Scott Verplank sharpening their games at the course. It served as the home course for the 10-time national champion Oklahoma State University Men's Golf Team for almost 50 years until the opening of Karsten Creek Golf Club in 1994.

Lakeside is annually named one of Golf Digest Magazine's "Best Places to Play". Lakeside is currently owned and operated by the City of Stillwater.
