Located in the western hills of Shizuoka Prefecture, Lake Hamamatsu Country Club is a championship 18-hole course measuring 7,041 yards with a par of 72. The layout was designed by Tazabu Kawata and supervised by Masahiro Kuramoto. The course is set in a warm climate, utilizing the natural terrain to create a strategic environment that challenges players with varied hole expressions and elevation changes. The front nine is characterized by strategic play and natural beauty, featuring several holes that demand accuracy. The fourth hole is a par 4 noted for its difficulty, while the fifth is a par 5 that offers the potential for a two-shot approach. The seventh hole is a 190-yard downhill par 3, and the sixteenth is a long par 3 surrounded by trees where wind conditions can be difficult to judge. The seventeenth hole is a long par 5 with a water hazard at 210 yards from the regular tee, forcing a decision between aggressive play and safety. The course has hosted the final Japanese qualifying tournament for the 2012 U.S. Open. It is recognized as a course that appeals to players who enjoy strategic golf, with a course rating of 74.0. The layout includes a mix of dogleg holes, uphill and downhill shots, and hazards that test both distance and precision.
