The course opened in September 1965 and is designed as a wooded layout where each hole is separated by red pines. The terrain takes advantage of the natural topography to create a varied routing that plays through a forest setting with views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The course features bentgrass greens and fairways with moderate undulation. The total yardage from the regular tees is 6,276 yards, with a par of 72. The front nine measures 3,065 yards, while the back nine extends to 3,211 yards. The longest holes on the layout are the par-5 11th at 529 yards and the 17th at 496 yards from the regular tees, while the shortest is the par-3 7th at 152 yards. Hamamatsu Country Club is characterized by its林間 (forest) style, offering a distinct playing experience compared to open links or parkland courses. The separation of holes by pine trees adds a strategic element to the routing, requiring precision off the tee. The course is known for its well-maintained conditions, with the bentgrass greens providing a consistent putting surface. The facility is located in a region with a mild climate, allowing for year-round play. The course is noted for its seasonal flowers, particularly cherry blossoms, which bloom in the spring. The club offers full caddie services with passenger carts for play.
