Located in Shinshiro, Aichi Prefecture, Akiha Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course set within a deep green, hilly terrain flanked by the famous Akaji no Nanotaki and Hyakken waterfalls. The course, which has been open for 33 years, is designed to offer a challenging experience for advanced players while remaining accessible to women through its flat greens. The layout is characterized by fairways lined with ponds and bunkers, with the difficulty often dictated by pin positions that can significantly increase the challenge. The front nine presents a mix of strategic demands, beginning with a long par-5 first hole where players must navigate water hazards on either side of the green. The third hole features a vertically elongated green that requires precise distance control, while the fifth hole challenges long hitters with a valley cutting into the right side of the fairway. The eighth hole is a water-carried middle hole that requires a dogleg left, and the ninth is a downhill par-5 that doglegs sharply left at 150 yards, testing management skills on the second shot. The back nine continues the test with several demanding holes. The twelfth hole is a middle hole where a creek crosses the fairway and flows along the right side to the green, with water also guarding the back of the green. The fourteenth hole offers a scenic downhill view but carries out-of-bounds risks on both sides, with a noted worst score of 27 strokes recorded in competition. The seventeenth hole is a long par-5 that tests stability over three shots, ending on a narrow approach with a bunker on the right and a three-meter cliff on the left. The course features Bentgrass greens and is equipped with full cart GPS navigation and remote-controlled electromagnetic carts. Play is conducted as self-play, and the club operates with a member-centric philosophy, encouraging families and friends to enjoy the game together. The surrounding area includes historical sites such as the Nishino Castle ruins and the Hōrai-ji Temple, adding to the regional appeal of the location.
