Located within the Ise-Shima National Park in Shima City, Mie Prefecture, the Ise-Shima Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Kazumi Miura and constructed by Daiwa House Industry. The property spans approximately 840,000 square meters, utilizing the natural forest and terrain to create a layout defined by gentle curves. Opened in August 1994, the course was notable for being the first in the Shima region to adopt mainstream bent grass for its greens, a choice that introduces subtle undulations to the putting surfaces. The routing features a mix of elevation changes and doglegs that test accuracy over raw distance. The front nine includes a demanding par-4 second hole, an uphill left dogleg where players must carry a left-side bunker, and a downhill par-4 fourth hole that encourages a bold line over the mountain to the left. The back nine presents its own challenges, highlighted by the 17th hole, an uphill par-4 that carries over a valley to a three-tiered green. The closing 18th hole is a 518-yard par-5 uphill drive that requires precision to avoid a water hazard on the left side. Significant hazards define the difficulty of the course. The eighth hole is a 162-yard par-3 that requires a carry over water, with a steep back slope that demands a dead shot to hold the green. The 14th hole is a long 430-yard par-4 dogleg left, while the 13th hole is a 196-yard par-3 where avoiding the right side is the primary safety play. Local rules specify that out-of-bounds is marked by white stakes, with a specific provision for the 10th tee shot where crossing the drainage ditch on the right management road incurs a three-stroke penalty from a special tee. The course also features cart paths and drainage ditches as immovable obstructions, with specific relief protocols for electromagnetic cart tracks.
