Hampshire Country Club is a private, member-owned club located in Mamaroneck, New York, along the Long Island Sound. The 18-hole course features 6,248 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course was created by acclaimed golf course architect Devereux Emmet and subsequently updated over the years by renowned architects Ed Ault, Frank Duane, and Stephen Kay. Hampshire Country Club was built in 1927.
The 18-hole layout is a true test for golfers of any ability; each hole proving distinctive and challenging for golfers at all skill levels. Water comes into play on seven holes, including the signature finishing hole—a 367-yard, par 4, whose green is protected on the right by a two-tiered pond and waterfall. The course features rolling terrain with elevated tees and greens, providing strategic challenges across the layout.
The club's first major competition came in the 1930s when it hosted a qualifying round for the U.S. Open, validating the quality and challenge of Emmet's design just a few years after the course opened. The Metropolitan Golf Association has brought several MGA events to the club, and the Met Amateur, one of the oldest and most respected amateur championships in the country, has visited Hampshire multiple times over the decades.
