The Mauritius Gymkhana Club golf course, located in Vacoas, is the oldest golf course in the Southern Hemisphere, with play having taken place on its grounds since 1844. It was introduced by British military officers, following the tradition established in Scotland, England, and India. The 18-hole course measures 5.6 kilometres in total length and plays to a par of 68. The layout consists of six par 3 holes, ten par 4 holes, and two par 5 holes. The shortest hole is the fifth, measuring 132 metres, while the longest is the sixth, stretching to 455 metres. The course is situated in a setting that demands precision and technical skill due to its tight layout, despite being relatively short in length. Notable features include a night driving range for practice during late hours.
