Gillingham Golf Club is situated in the Medway Towns within 10 minutes of the M2 motorway in Kent. The course was formally laid out by James Braid in 1919 and constructed by the army. It underwent significant upgrades by Donald Steel in the 1990s, which enhanced the layout with tree-lined fairways and small, fast greens.

The course presents varied challenges, featuring both short, driveable par 4s and lengthy, demanding par 4s. The routing offers idyllic views throughout, with the 18th hole being particularly notable as it overlooks the modern clubhouse with its balcony, creating a scenic finishing hole.

The course welcomes golfers of different abilities and skill levels. The upgraded design maintains the original Braid routing while incorporating modern maintenance standards. The fast greens and tree-lined layout demand both accuracy and course management, making it a challenging test for experienced players while remaining accessible to visitors and members of varying handicaps.

The clubhouse facilities include dining and entertainment options, with catering known for traditional, home-cooked fare prepared from seasonal ingredients.
