The course is set within a wooded, hilly terrain, featuring a total yardage of 5,976 yards from the regular tees. The Out course measures 3,158 yards with a par of 36, while the In course covers 2,818 yards, also at par 36. The design emphasizes strategic play, with wide fairways that require precision to avoid out-of-bounds areas and wooded hazards. The Out course begins with a challenging opening hole, a 354-yard par 4 that plays uphill to a green where the pin position is often obscured. The front nine includes a mix of mid-length and long holes, such as the 487-yard par 5 third hole, which is a downhill shot across a leftward slope. The ninth hole is a signature right dogleg, where players must navigate around trees on the right, with the option for long hitters to attempt a cut across the left side. Several holes on the front nine feature elevated tees and downhill approaches, requiring careful distance control. The In course continues the strategic theme with distinct challenges. The 13th hole is a 104-yard par 3 that carries over a water hazard, demanding precise distance management. The 12th hole is a 498-yard par 5 that plays downhill with significant leftward slope, while the 17th is a 131-yard par 3 that plays downhill over water. The layout includes several par 4s that are described as mid-length holes, often featuring narrow fairways or elevated "gun platform" greens that require larger clubs for approach shots. The course design ensures that players must constantly be aware of left and right out-of-bounds lines, particularly in the wooded sections. Shiranui Golf Course has been in operation for over 50 years, having opened more than five decades ago. The facility is designed to accommodate a wide range of players, from beginners to those participating in competitions. The unique structure of using different tees and greens for the Out and In rounds allows for varied playing conditions and strategic options throughout the round.
