Sun Royal Golf Club is a 72-hole facility located in Kato City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, set on a gentle hillside with views of Mount Mikusa. The course was designed by Fukichi Kato, a noted architect known for work on various championship venues. The property spans approximately 400,000 tsubo and features two distinct nine-hole loops. The front nine is described as a lush, flat course that strategically utilizes mountains and water hazards, while the back nine offers a more pastoral, wooded experience. The layout consists of two separate 18-hole courses, labeled A and B, both offering four sets of tees: Champion, Back, Regular, and Lady’s. Course A’s Champion tees play to 6,956 yards with a Course Rating of 72.7 and a Slope of 136. The Lady’s tees on Course A measure 5,325 yards. Course B’s Champion tees measure 6,939 yards with a 72.6 rating, while its Lady’s tees are 5,306 yards. Both courses feature two greens per hole, designed with Bent grass to provide varied playing conditions. The design emphasizes wide fairways and gentle undulations, allowing for a spacious feel throughout the round. Most holes are designed so that the pin is visible directly from the tee, creating an open and ideal layout. The course integrates the natural mountain scenery and views into the routing, aiming to provide a memorable experience for players. The facility is situated in a rural setting, with the back nine specifically noted for its views of the surrounding countryside.
