Fairlawn's 18-hole, 6,256-yard golf course sits on rolling wooded terrain in Akron, Ohio. The par is 70, and the course was designed by William B. Langford, ASGCA, and opened in 1917. Winding creeks, deep ravines and lush fairways characterize the layout, while the course has Bent Grass greens and Poa Annua Grass fairways. The course features a rating of 71.0 and slope of 129, presenting a challenging test for golfers.
The opening hole offers an excellent introduction to the course, where golfers drive to the top of a rise from which the green becomes visible, with an accurate second shot from the hillside placing the ball on a green that slopes to the left. The private facility also offers swimming, tennis, and dining amenities alongside its golf program. The club received its charter from the State of Ohio on April 20, 1917, with F.A. Seiberling, J.A. Riscel and C.W. McLaughlin as founders, and the original clubhouse burned in October 1929, leading to relocation to the current site at 200 Wheaton Road with construction beginning in 1930.
