Located in Nantan City, Kyoto, the Crown Hills Kyoto Golf Club is a 18-hole, par-72 course set within a hilly landscape. Designed by Koichi Nagato and opened in October 1986, the course measures 6,245 yards with a course rating of 70.1. The layout is characterized by undulating terrain, featuring a mix of flat stretches, uphill and downhill shots, and doglegs that require strategic club selection and accurate distance control. The front nine begins with a relatively straightforward par-5 before presenting a demanding par-4 with a large water hazard guarding the front of the green. The third hole features a long, narrow green protected by a large bunker, while the fourth is a lightly uphill, left dogleg through deep woods. The fifth hole, a 177-yard par-3, requires a carry over water to a green backed by four bunkers, testing both distance and accuracy. The turn at the ninth hole introduces a 506-yard par-5 that plays through a creek and beach bunker, setting a challenging tone for the back nine. The back nine starts on a high tee at the first hole, a par-4 that doglegs left and requires careful navigation around bunkers. The eleventh hole is a 451-yard par-5 with a significant right dogleg and a green protected by a cluster of bunkers on the right side. The twelfth is a 154-yard par-3 where bunkers are arranged in a horseshoe shape around the green, demanding precise direction and distance. The thirteenth hole plays through a flat, straight fairway but is guarded by a water hazard in front of the green. The fourteenth hole features a two-tiered fairway with a steep downhill second shot, while the fifteenth is a 384-yard par-4 that plays slightly uphill and requires wind calculation. The sixteenth is a 202-yard par-3 where playing from the right side is considered safer, with a long, narrow green that rewards overplaying the pin. The seventeenth hole is a 318-yard par-4 with a slight right dogleg and a three-tiered, pistol-shaped green. The closing eighteenth hole is a 502-yard par-5 that plays past a large water hazard and beach bunker, with the approach and putting often determining the final score. The course features bentgrass greens and allows for both caddie-assisted and self-play rounds.
