City of Newcastle Golf Club is located near Three Mile Bridge in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, on the site of the former Grange Farm. Founded in 1891, the club originally played on the Town Moor before relocating to its current location in 1907. The 18-hole course was originally designed by Harry Vardon, with significant redesign work undertaken by Alister MacKenzie in 1913, who redesigned 12 holes. MacKenzie's work on the 14th hole is featured in his influential book, Golf Architecture. The course retains much of the original vision from both designers and is regarded as one of the finest courses in the North East. It regularly hosts County and National competitions. The clubhouse offers panoramic views of the 1st and 18th holes and provides bar, restaurant, and function facilities suitable for various events including weddings and private dining.
