Echizen Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course located in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture, Japan. Opened in 1982, the facility spans 1.15 million square meters of rolling terrain, classified as a hillside course. The layout measures 6,646 yards from the blue tees, with shorter distances available from the white (5,972 yards) and red (5,113 yards) tees. The course features Bentgrass putting surfaces, specifically Pen-cross, with Korean bent fairways and zoysia grass roughs. The design emphasizes strategic play across varied elevation changes. The front nine totals 3,447 yards from the blue tees, featuring a long par-five second hole at 594 yards and a short par-three third at 151 yards. The back nine presents its own challenges, highlighted by the 530-yard par-five eighteenth hole and the 478-yard par-five thirteenth. Handicap strokes are distributed to balance the difficulty, with the first and eleventh holes marked as the most difficult on the front and back nines respectively. Echizen Country Club has a history of hosting professional tournaments, a status that influences its maintenance standards.
