Los Olivos is an 18-hole, par-71 course spanning 5,875 metres from the white tees, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1984. The course is situated in the valley of Mijas, north of Fuengirola, only twenty minutes from the Málaga international airport and Marbella, and 3.5 kilometres from the sea. Designed as a contrast to its sister course Los Lagos, Los Olivos features an abundance of trees—hence its name—smaller size, fewer water hazards, smaller and undulating greens, strategic narrow tree-lined fairways, and elevated greens. The course is best suited for players with higher technical ability and precision, remaining one of the most famous commercial courses of the Costa del Sol. The par-three 4th hole is the most spectacular hole with magnificent panoramic views from the raised tees and a small green tucked away below, protected by three bunkers, demanding cool nerve and accurate tee shots. The Los Olivos course underwent extensive regeneration in recent years to bring the course up to USGA requirements.
