Atlantic is an 18-hole golf course with 6,940 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Rees Jones, the course opened in 1992. Located in Bridgehampton on rolling linksland, the course was created as a private members club by real-estate developer Lowell Schulman.

The course is described as "links-like," with most holes framed by knobs, mounds and moguls, featuring terrain that rises and falls with tall fescue rough swaying in constant breezes. Jones created a strategic design with mounds, moguls and fescue framing the holes that test golfers along with the ever-present wind. The par 3s run the gamut from short-iron approaches to full fairway woods, with the 7th measuring 127 yards to a plateau green and the 14th playing 218 yards with a low-profile green.

The course debuted on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest ranking in 1997 at 65th and was ranked on four editions until falling off in 2006, reappearing in 2023-'24 at number 175. Atlantic was chosen to host the Met Open as its first major championship, establishing it as an instant classic and chapter in distinguished championship golf history.
