The Atlantic City Country Club is located in Northfield, New Jersey, 6 miles west of Atlantic City, on 170 acres in a coastal setting with skyline views of Atlantic City. The 18-hole course features 6,577 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. Willie Park Jr., the British Open champion in 1887 and 1889, is often credited as the primary designer, though at least four others are responsible for this classic layout. The course was updated in 1999 by architect Tom Doak, who restored many original features including firm, undulating greens and tall, native grasses that frame bunkers and fairways.

The course is routed along marshland and back bays and has the feel of a classic Northeast country club. Finely manicured fairways and large sloping green complexes protected by deep sand bunkers are the course's signature. Long carries over natural ponds and salt water marshes make the course a formidable challenge for any golfer.

The club was established in 1897. The term "birdie", which means one stroke under par, was coined at the club in 1903. The Atlantic City Country Club has hosted six national championships conducted by the United States Golf Association and also hosted an event on the Senior PGA Tour in 1980, the Atlantic City Senior International.
