Gents Senior Open (50+)

The Gents Senior Open (50+) is an individual strokeplay competition open to male amateur golfers aged 50 and over, held at Broomieknowe Golf Club, Bonnyrigg on Tuesday 18 August 2026. Play is off the White tees. Entry is restricted to competitors holding a current World Handicap System (WHS) handicap index issued through a recognised affiliated golf club; handicap indexes issued directly by a national body are not accepted. The maximum course playing handicap awarded is 28 strokes (equivalent to a handicap index of 26.4); competitors with a higher index may still enter but will receive no more than 28 strokes. As standard, all competitors receive 90% of their course playing handicap on the day. Booking closes at 09:00 on 17 August 2026. Visitor entry fee is £25.00; member entry fee is £15.00, payable at the time of booking. Cancellations made more than 14 days before the competition date receive a full refund; no refund is issued for later cancellations. The club will issue a full refund if the competition is cancelled for any reason, including an unplayable course. Catering is available in the clubhouse from 09:00. Prizes are provided as credit with the Club Professional for competitors residing in the Lothians Region; competitors from further afield may request Scottish Golf Vouchers instead. Buggies are available for hire (3 available); competitors wishing to use a buggy (club-hired or personal) must provide proof of eligibility to use a buggy in competition. If the main car park is full, an overflow car park is signposted at the entrance. The competition committee's decisions are final on all matters.
