The Claude and Shawn Gyde Venison Day Tournament is a highly popular individual strokeplay competition held at South Head Golf Club in early August each year. The event is open to all players with the field restricted to 128 players on a first-come-first-in basis. The tournament is well supported by visiting players. The event typically commences with a shotgun start at 10:00 am sharp, followed by a meal and socialising before the prize-giving ceremony. Prizes are awarded for the best gross, nett, and Stableford scores in three men's divisions and one women's division. Entry is via the club's online registration system.
