The Numazu Challenge Cup is a monthly open competition held at Numazu Golf Club. The event takes place on the last Friday of each month (July 24, August 21, September 25, October 30, November 20, and December 18, 2026). Participants play a W-Peria format on the front 9 holes, with scores determined by the lower of two players' net scores (in case of a tie, the older player's score takes precedence). Awards are given for 1st through 5th place, as well as special prizes for 5-putt, BG (best gross), and BB (best ball). Tee markers: men use white markers from regular tees; women and players aged 70 and over may use gold markers from the front tees; ladies may also use red markers from the ladies tees. Entry is open to club members and point card members, with membership available on the day at no entry fee. Visitors and non-members are welcome to participate, either as individuals or with family and friends. No post-competition party is held.

Numazu Golf Club is a 27-hole facility located in Numazu, Shizuoka, situated on the slopes of Mount Ashitaka with views overlooking the Suruga Bay. The course is divided into three distinct 9-hole layouts: the Ashitaka Course, the Izu Course, and the Suruga Course. These丘陵 (hilly) courses are designed to take advantage of the natural terrain and seasonal changes of the mountain setting. The club's architecture is defined by the design philosophy of Kisho Kurokawa, whose principles guide the construction of the clubhouse and its integration with the surrounding nature. The facility aims to provide a high-quality golfing environment that coexists with the natural landscape, extending this ethos to the playing surfaces themselves. The layout caters to a range of players, from beginners to veterans, through various event plans and open competitions hosted by the club.
