Event Details

Date: Friday, 04 September 2026

Format: Individual Stableford

Category: Open

Entry Fee: SEK 10.00

Entry Method: Online

Friday Golf is a recurring individual stableford competition held every Friday at Gripsholms Golfklubb from early May through late September (excluding Midsummer Eve and the Friday during Gripsholmsveckan). The event uses accumulator scoring where players compete hole-by-hole; if no one wins a hole, the points accumulate to the next hole until 18 holes are completed. Extra points are awarded for birdies and for the player finishing nearest the hole (green hits only) who also makes par. Players play from the appropriate tees, with gentlemen aged 70 and over having the option to play from the red tees. The maximum handicap adjustment is one stroke per hole, and no strokes are given on the short holes. Entry is made via mingolf.se by Tuesday at 21:00 for the following Friday's competition, with the starting list published by Thursday evening. The entry fee is 10 SEK per round, plus an additional accumulator contribution of approximately 40-50 SEK. The scheduled final playing date is 15 September, though this may be extended by a couple of weeks depending on weather conditions. The competition is open to all golfers, not restricted to club members.

The club hosts a significant annual event known as Gripsholmsveckan, held in the second week of July, which features a variety of competitions for members of all skill levels. Regular tournament play includes series play, Friday golf, and a Tuesday competition for veterans, with handicaps calculated using the EGA system. The course is maintained with a specific policy that addresses issues such as wild boar damage and power line interference, ensuring playability throughout the season.
