Turnberry

South Ayrshire, United Kingdom

Turnberry is a world-renowned golf resort located on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland, featuring two championship courses. The Ailsa Course, the primary layout, has hosted The Open Championship four times and is ranked among the world's top golf courses by Golf Digest. This links course is characterized by dramatic coastal views and historic Scottish links-style golf. The King Robert the Bruce course spans 7,203 yards across 18 holes, offering a majestic golfing experience. Both courses present significant challenges through their design and demanding terrain. The Ailsa Course is particularly noted for its challenging layout set against striking seaside scenery, with the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse serving as a landmark on the Ayrshire coastline. The resort, originally opened in 1906 as Britain's first purpose-planned golf resort and hotel, underwent renovation after World War II and continues to host prestigious championships. The facility includes one of Europe's largest pro shops at 3,600 square feet, a golf academy with PGA-certified instructors, and serves as a complete resort destination with hotel accommodations and multiple dining venues.
