Apple Valley Golf Course

Winesap Road

Lake Lure, NC, United States

Apple Valley Golf Course was designed by Dan Maples and opened in 1986. The course measures 6,756 yards from the tips and is a par 72 with 18 holes. Routed through the Blue Ridge foothills surrounding scenic Lake Lure, the course features the mountain setting typical of Western North Carolina. Maples designed Apple Valley with the vast majority of holes playing either level or downhill. The course offers five sets of tees starting at 4,617 yards with subtle green complexes and gently undulating greens, making it playable for different skill levels. Mountain lakes adorn 12 holes on Apple Valley, but water only occasionally comes into play. The back nine is widely regarded as one of the best closing stretches in the Western Carolinas. The par-3 14th hole, with its shallow green and back bunker, is reminiscent of No. 12 at Augusta National. The course has hosted numerous championships and tournaments. The North Carolina Golf Panel ranks Apple Valley in the Top 100 Best Courses in North Carolina.
